David Soomarie

David Soomarie is the Legacy Coordinator at the Community Alliance for Accessible Treatment, where he plays a pivotal role in supporting racialized communities including People Living with HIV, newcomers, and gay/bi/MSM. As a racialized newcomer living with HIV, he recognizes the invaluable support he received from the organization during his migration journey. Through active participation in CAAT’s programs, he has empowered himself with the skills and tools necessary to advocate effectively for himself and others.

Currently, he confidently co-chairs the board of the Alliance for South Asian AIDS Prevention (ASAAP) and the PHA Advisory Committee for the Ontario AIDS Network. His accomplishments include being honored as the INSPIRE LGBTQ Person of the Year and receiving the POZTO award in 2019. David proudly identifies as Indo-Caribbean, queer, and HIV-positive, and he is committed to making a positive impact in his community.
