Alan Tai-Wai Li, M.D.
Alan Li is a first generation immigrant from Hong Kong, he’s a medical doctor, educator, researcher, community organizer and advocate with over 30 years’ experiences working with many marginalized populations including immigrants, refugees, people facing challenges with poverty, mental health and addiction issues, LGBTQ and people with HIV/AIDS (PHA).
In addition to his primary care physician role at the Regent Park Community Health Centre, Alan has taken on leadership roles in many social justice organizations, including as national president of the Chinese Canadian National Council, as founding president of the Asian Community AIDS Services (ACAS), and the co-founder of Community Alliance for Accessible Treatment (CAAT), a coalition working to improve treatment access for and promote leadership of newcomer and racialized PHAs. In 2019, Alan co-founded the Blue Door Clinic, a multi-agency partnered clinic that provides holistic primary care and case management support to precariously insured people living with HIV in the GTA area.
