Alan Li Social Justice Award
Background:
The Alan Li Social Justice Capacity Building Award was established by The Committee for Accessible AIDS Treatment (CAAT) in 2014 as part of our Celebration of 15 Years of Collective Empowerment. The Award was named in honor of CAAT’s co-founder Dr. Alan Li who has been a dedicated caregiver, a champion for health equity and social justice, and a leader in advancing GIPA/MIPA and PHA empowerment, especially amongst racialized and newcomer communities.
Eligibility Criteria:
The award aims to recognize a person living with HIV from racialized and newcomer communities who has participated and contributed to CAAT’s programming activities and has demonstrated significant contributions and achievements in one or more of the following areas:
1. Peer capacity building
2. Courage and resilience in their personal lives
3. Compassion and support to other peers and other marginalized communities
4. Social justice and human rights
5. Role modeling and mentorship
The 2024 edition of the award will be presented at the CAAT Annual General Members Meeting (AGMM) to be held in September 2024.
Who can nominate?
Nominations are invited from service providers and peers within the HIV/AIDS service sector. Completed nomination forms must have name, contact information of the individual making the nomination. Award winners will be expected to attend the event preferably in person.
The attached nomination form must be completed and submitted by September 18th, 2024.
