The CAAT team is pleased to introduce you to our first Capacity building coordinator Raj Jagwani.
Raj migrated to Canada 10 years ago , after graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree from Winnipeg, Raj moved to Vancouver where he got involved with the Rainbow Refugee Committee (RRC) providing support to refugees in Canada for five years.
Upon moving to Toronto in 2012, Raj immediately got involved with the community here. He was on the Board of Directors at the “Asian Community AIDS Services (ACAS)”, and was on the organizing committee of the 2013 AIDS Candlelight Vigil.
For the last one year, Raj has also been working as a program associate on the “Newcomers Sexual Health Promotion Project” at CAAT. During his time here, he has outreached to different locations and played an important role in developing new relationships with settlement agencies in Scarborough and North York. Recently, he initiated and created CAAT’s very first electronic newsletter which has received tremendous positive feedback.
As a Capacity Building Coordinator and working with the CAAT Director, Raj will be responsible of ensuring the implementation of CAAT’s annual capacity building plan including training, supporting and overseeing CAAT’s Peer Facilitators. He will also be working with AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs) to develop their capacity to serve immigrant, refugee and non-status people living with HIV/AIDS (IRN PHAs) and their capacity to facilitate greater involvement and leadership among IRN PHA communities throughout Ontario province.
